Salmiya Indian Model School organised the 2nd Season of SCIMA

Salmiya Indian Model School organised the 2nd Season of SCIMA (Science Math) Fest at their campus on 4th and 5th October 2017. The fest took off with the SCIMA Kaleidoscope. It included a Science Exhibition where the students displayed working and nonworking models on subjects ranging Light, Conversion and Conservation of Energy, Non-renewable Sources of Energy and Telecommunications to Pascal’s law and Physiology of the Human body. The exhibition went a long way in kindling a sense of enquiry and scientific temper among the students.

SCIMA Kaleidoscope also had a section dedicated to Mathematics. Stalls for Math Games, Puzzles and Activities were put up with the objective of bringing more fun to the learning of Math. The students were enthused as they reveled in these activities.

The preliminary round for the SCIMA ExQUIZit, the Inter School Quiz Competition was held on 4th October. Teams from ten different schools participated in the preliminary round. The teams from Indian Community School, Amman; Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s; Gulf Indian School and Learners Own Academy qualified for the finals.

The Grand Finale of SCIMA ExQUIZit took place on the 5th of October in the school auditorium. The event was presided over by His Excellency the ambassador of Tajakistan to Kuwait, Dr Zubaydullo Zubaydov. An august gatherings consisting of teachers and students of participating schools as well as management, staff, parents and students of the host school attended the program. The program commenced with the recital from the Holy Quran followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. The school choir presented a prayer song. The Director of the SIMS, Dr Anis Ahmed welcomed the esteemed guests. The participating teams were ushered to the stage as they smartly marched with their school flags. The stage was then handed over to the Quiz Master Mr Rajiv Menon. The Quiz consisted of 5 rounds including Choose your topic, Observation and connection, Audio visual, Buzzer and Rapid fire. The audience sat enlightened with the knowledge and completely enthralled throughout the quiz. The climax was equally exciting with three teams claiming the first position. A tie breaker finally decided the positions. Indian Community School, Amman proudly lifted the winners’ trophy while the team from Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan’s were the runners up. The other two teams were also close on their heels. It was indeed an amazing performance from all the teams.

The principal Mrs Elizabeth Joseph formally announced the result and the teams were felicitated by the honoured Chief Guest. A vote of thanks was proposed by the principal and a memento of appreciation was presented to the quiz master Mr Rajiv Menon by the principal and the Vice Principal, Mrs Anita Sadanand. The event formally concluded with the Indian National Anthem.
