Human Rights Society urges Ministry to reconsider health fees

Tuesday, October 17, 2017

The Kuwait Human Rights Society (KHRS) called on the health ministry to reconsider its decision to hike health services fees for expatriates, as the society found that inability to pay the new charges has forced many expats to discontinue treatment.

The society said the decision will adversely affect the health of expatriates despite the positive outcome in the reduction of the number of visitors to the health facilities — according to the ministry’s point of view. It noted Newton’s law of motion indicates that ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’.

It also recounted a story circulated on social media recently about an expatriate who died as a result of a clot in the heart after he went to the hospital for treatment and was obliged to leave the same day instead of keeping him under observation in the hospital for days.
