Kuwait Zoo will be developed into two parts

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Within the framework of Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) plan to improve the facilities and increase revenues, a study is being conducted to divide the Kuwait Zoo into two parts as one part as a public garden and the other part as the zoo, local daily Al-Rai reported. Quoting Director General of PAAAFR Eng Faisal Al-Hassawi, daily also added that the plan include increasing the entry fee to a range between 500 fils and KD 1 per head.

Eng Al-Hassawi explained that the zoo is regarded as a touristic landmark that attracts about 500,000 visitors annually. The costs of taking care of the animals and increasing their diversity as well as maintaining the zoo’s facilities were the reason behind the study to increase the entry fees from 250 fils to KD 1 per person — both citizens and expatriates — in order to cover the cost of running the zoo.

School children, official delegates, people with special needs and children less than two years of age will be excluded from paying the fees, he said.
