More Golden Feathers to the Feather-Filled cap of Bhavans

Bhavans Kuwait (Indian Educational School) added a few more golden feathers to its feather-filled cap during the past week. Success is chased and captured by the Bhavanites at every interschool contest venue in Kuwait.
Spin a Yarn Contest and the Best IIK YR Award
Two Bhavanites walked away with accolades for their spectacular speaking prowess at the Spin a Yarn Contest organized by the most popular news website dedicated to the expatriate Indians in Kuwait – www.indiansinkuwait.com on Wednesday, the 29th of November 2017 at the ICSK Senior auditorium, Salmiya.
More than 20 contestants partook in the competition from various Indian schools. Bhavanites won the first places in both the junior and the senior categories as well as the hearts of the audience with their amazing gift of gab. Nakshatra Neeraja Binu of grade 5 and Afnan Shafkat Syed of grade 12 helped Bhavan win this marvelous feat.
The IIK Young Reporter Award brought laurels to the institution in the form of a glittering trophy lifted by Malavika Krishna, ‘a journalist par excellence in the making’ from the senior wing of Bhavans Kuwait. The best young reporter award is instituted by the IIK to promote the budding writers who contribute to IIK on a regular basis. The experts at IIK analyzed hundreds of articles sent by the young reporters of IIK and declared Malavika the best young reporter of the year.
Malavika won this award twice in succession much to the awe of the evening gathering. Malavika was also chosen for the ‘best interview article award.’
The compendium of awe-inspiring reports and articles sent by the students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan yet again helped Bhavan bask in the glory of the ‘Best School Contributor’ for the year 2017. Tanmay Sahu of grade 9 was lauded for his contribution.
His article was chosen as ‘the most interesting article of the year 2017’ while another Bhavanite Marushka Fernandes of grade 8 was bestowed praises and prizes for contributing ‘the most beneficial article of the year 2017.’
Mr. E.P. Prasad (Department of English), IES received the trophy on behalf of the school from the backers and patrons of IIK amid thunderous applause.
St. Berchman’s Extempore Speech Competition
Nothing succeeds like success and Bhavans is no exception but the perfect example of this adage. The wintry evening of December 01,2017 witnessed Bhavanites bringing home the coveted St.Berchman’s Extempore Speech Overall Championship trophy for the sixth time in succession. An amazing and an incredible achievement that any institution would dream of.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony was held in the ICSK Khaitan auditorium. The nonpareil St. Berchmnan’s extempore speech competition is the best platform for the young orators to flaunt their flairs. Bhavans has been winning the championship since 2012 proudly proclaiming the might and mettle of its army of young orators which has surmounted almost all the summits of public speaking challenges in the country.
The Bhavanites were awarded with individual trophies for their excellence in the impromptu speaking competition. The overall championship trophy was lifted by the Team Bhavans amidst fanfare, confetti, and cheer. Mr. Suresh V Balakrishnan, the senior vice principal, Bhavans was invited to felicitate the winners. In his address, he emphasized the importance of oratory skills.
He also highlighted in his speech how the extempore speech competitions embolden the young to face the challenges of life. He congratulated the Alumni Association of St. Berchman’s College, Kuwait Chapter for their selfless service to the society.
Bhavans has yet again proved that success is not something to be pursued because what is pursued will elude the pursuer. Bhavanites attract and accumulate success to be the masters of success and not its slaves.
