Minister V K Singh interacted with Indian community in Kuwait

India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Dr (Gen) V K Singh interacted with the Indian community in Kuwait in s community event held at the Indian Embassy auditorium.

Minister V K Singh, who was in Kuwait to take up the long pending issue of Indian labours at Kharafi National company briefed the community about the complexness of the issues and urged the Indian community to unite and support the fellow Indians in distress.



Minister V K Singh assured the community that the Indian government had taken up the issue seriously and will give all the possible support to these employees. "We understood that the issue is little complex as it involves various stake holders. Kharafi group is a private company and many stake holders are involved in this. But we are given a time line to solve this issue and we will follow-up this. I am very optimistic and we will solve this issue", Minister said.

Minister, who visited the labour camps and interacted with thousands of distressed labours of Kharafi group, appealed the Indian community to assist the Indian Embassy in whatever way possible to support the distressed Indians,. "Many of them in these camps don’t have food to eat. I met people who don’t even have 1 dinar with them for many months," Minister said.



The Indian Embassy in Kuwait will do whatever possible to help these workers and to solve this issue, which we are following up with the authorities for more than an year, minister said. "I urge every one of you to understand the complexity of the situation," VK Signh said. Community should be part of the solution, minister said.




Developments in India

Our country is moving in the right direction, Minister said while interacting with the community members. Back home, lot of measures are put in place during the last three years so that we an change the overall system, Minister said. The statistics shows the increase in FDIs in India which proves that the moves are towards the right direction. Indian government launched many schemes to increase the employment rate. Start Up India, Mudra loan etc are successfully implemented to generate the employment rate. "I urge you all to motivate the fellow Indians to make use of these for the betterment of our country," minister said.



The newly appointed Ambassador of India to Kuwait His Excellency K Jeeva Sagar were also present with the minister. Deputy Chief of Mission Sri Raj Gopal Singh, Political Secretary Sri K K Pahel, Labour Secretary Sri U S Siby were also present during the interaction. Earlier, Second Secretary Sri Yashwant Chatpalliwar welcomed the audience to the program. Large number of community members including Indian businessman, professionals, members of various community associations, and workers attended the meeting.
