Astral Award Nite: Bhavans’ Day of Constellating Achievements

May 10, 2018 happened to be an indelible day inscribed in the heart of every Bhavanite, the impression incised in different ways with different tools of mind, for a proven elite lot, it was a day to be exultantly impressed in the hearts, for many an inspired scholar, it was a day to be carved in the spirit, with the tools of determination and grit, as they proved to be in the elite league as the moment of glory beckoned.

‘The Award Nite’, a function of preeminence organized by Indian Educational School, (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) Kuwait to acknowledge and appreciate the exemplary achievements of the prodigious students of IES made the day of May 10, 2018 to be cherished and remembered by all the Bhavanites.

The sterling evening was graced by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Mr. Fawaz Mohammed, a dynamic entrepreneur and former student of IES, Mr. Mohammed Abdulla, Parent of Mr. Fawaz, Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman Bhavans Middle East, Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal, Indian Educational School, Mrs. Rathi Ravindran, Principal, Jack and Jill, Mangaf, Mr. Suresh V Balakrishnan, Sr. Vice Principal, Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar, Vice Principal, Primary Wing and Mrs. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal, CCA.

The evening of accolades started with a soul-soothing verse from the Holy Quran followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. The evening of encomium was unfurled with a prayer song and the school anthem rendered by the school choir. The ceremonial lamp was then conjointly lit by the guest of honor Mr. Fawaz Mohammed, Mr. T. Premkumar, Mrs. Rathi Ravindran, Mr. Suresh V Balakrishnan, Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar and Mrs. Meenakshi Nayyar. The blessed gathering was welcomed by Aaliya Sageer, the Head Girl of Indian Educational School, Kuwait.

It was the time for the awardees to be honoured and felicitated. The estimable IES scholarship for students who are studying in classes 8 to 12 scoring above 91% marks in all subjects in all school tests and examinations was offered to the phenomenal performers, Alicia Rose Sebastian of G9 and Vishnu Balram of G9 amidst thunderous applause. Scholar badges, scholar blazers, golden medallions and shields for stellar performance in International Exams were a few of the other awards given. The crème de la crème of Indian Educational School was presented with the scholar blazers, a token of appreciation for scoring the cumulative A1 in all subjects for three successive years; an extraordinary feat indeed. Students who received appreciation and recognition for their outstanding performances, securing the highest grade in their respective classes in the primary wing, and a cumulative grade of A1 in all subjects for the middle and the senior wings were beaming like twinkling stars fallen on the dais. Math Wizards, best speakers and budding scientists, who proved their mettle time and again, were awarded medals of honour and recognition. The best outfit award, a novice in the archive of accolades at IES, brought along an elegant ensemble, spreading radiant smiles around. A total of two hundred and thirty two students were bestowed upon the awards of proficiency for their extraordinary achievements in the academic year 2017-18.

A memento of love, respect, affection and appreciation was extended to the guest of honour by the chairman and the principal. The guest of honour, Mr. Fawaz Mohammed, addressed the gathering with an enlightening thought - how a decision can change one’s life altogether. Mr. Fawaz stressed on the importance of the decisions that one makes in one’s life. Being a self-made entrepreneur, he reminded everyone of the significance of determination and perseverance in one’s doings, and added “…the mantra of success is to have faith in oneself”. The proud alumnus, the exceptional student with exemplary behavior, who had been at his time in school the apple of every teacher’s eye, expressed his joy, excitement and gratitude to all and sundry for being given a chance to grace a function at his alma mater. The auditorium reverberated with roaring applause relishing the rare moment inscribed by a Bhavanite as the Guest of Honour, in the archives of Bhavans.

To add the flavor of festivity to the august evening, the talented Teertha Krishna and Alisha Chalil of G9 danced gracefully in the pure Indian classical elegance and enthralled the audience with their flair and charm.

The evening of commendation ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Samuel John, the school Head Boy, and the singing of the Indian National Anthem. The emcees for the day were Madhumitha Kasiviswanathan of Grade11 and Mokhinur Tinchlikova of Grade 12 who were also instrumental in letting the evening leave a lasting impression in many jubilant and resolute hearts.
