Charity Begins at Home-Bhavans

Monday, June 11, 2018

Happiness is a choice, and contentment is giving. And, when you want to be happy and contented, you choose to give unconditionally. Spreading the divine significance of the holy month of Ramadan, the Bhavans Family at Indian Educational School, Kuwait set out on a charity drive, on course making the students fathom the joy of giving and sharing, thus illuminating some humble worlds with happiness along with filling theirs with contentment.

Students from grades 3 to 12 were asked to donate voluntarily dry ration items that were to be given to some of the very needy families in Kuwait. The response was overwhelming as 8 cartons of dry rations such as rice, sugar, flour, cooking oil were collected and packed in a week’s time. The collection weighed more than 300 kg. Chairman of Bhavans, Middle East, Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon and Principal of Indian Educational School, Mr. T. Premkumar, exultingly appreciated and thanked the students and the parent community of the Bhavans family for their wholehearted support and unconditional contributions to a noble cause during the holy month of Ramadan.

The giving drive took off, signifying the thought ‘charity begins at home’, when a part of the collected rations was apportioned among the charwomen at IES. The collected edibles were transported to a charity organisation in Jabriya which reaches out to poor widows and very needy families in Kuwait in particular and all the needy at large. Such philanthropic movements are just like the ‘starfish story’ that we may not be able to emblaze the whole universe with our humble act of will but we can in the loop of time, kindle up some crumbled worlds fallen into the darkest pitfall of this inexplicably enigmatic and infinite universe. Bhavans stands apart when it instils such noble ideals in its students moulding them to be highly compassionate citizens.
