Former Indian Ambassador to Kuwait BMC Nair passed away

Reputed diplomat, former Indian Ambassador to Kuwait and novelist B M C Nair (Mohana Chandran -77) passed away at his residence in Anna Nagar in Chennai on Thursday night. Nair was ailing for a long time and the end came at 10.30 pm.

Nair had served as ambassador to Mozambique, Jamaica, Singapore and Kuwait. He enriched Malayalam literature through his novels. His famous novel `Kalika’ focusing on women’s issue was translated into Tamil.

He was instrumental in many community initiates while he was in Kuwait as Indian Ambassador.

Born on May 20, 1941 in Aluva, Nair finished his basic studies at the Aluva St Mary’s High School and did his higher studies at the Ernakulam Maharajas College and Thiruvananthapuram University College. He graduated in 1962 in first rank and joined IFS in 1965.
