Developing leadership and communication skills by Toastmasters in Kuwait

An audience of more than 250 listened with rapt attention to two amazing speakers, who mesmerized them with the power of words and expression, at a seminar “Find Your Voice” organized by Toastmasters in Kuwait on Friday, 22nd June 2018 at Gulf University of Science & Technology (GUST), Mishref. The event was sponsored by Al Mulla Insurance, Gulf Insurance Group, ‘Want It Buy It’ and ‘BodyWithShahad’.

The two speakers were the 2015 World champion of public speaking Mohammad Qahttani, who is the first person from Saudi Arabia and the first Muslim to win this championship of Toastmasters International, and Ms Aruna Ladva, a spiritual author and promoter of the yogic art of meditation and its benefits. Both the speakers demonstrated how well developed communication skills help people stand out and become leaders in their chosen fields.

Besides these speakers, the event showcased the benefits of joining Toastmasters through exemplary speeches and testimonials by members of Toastmasters International. An impromptu speech session was also conducted in which many guests from the audience participated. During the feedback session conducted by District 20 Director Dr Mohamed Makhlouf, the guests appreciated the event and many in the audience took benefit of the on-spot registration to become members of Toastmasters International.

This global network is arranged into Regions, Districts, Divisions and Areas for administrative convenience. Kuwait Toastmasters are part of District 20 in Region 11 of Toastmasters International. District 20 consists of 11 Divisions and 42 Areas with more than 180 clubs with more than 4000 members in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. In Kuwait, there are currently more than 60 clubs with nearly 1500 members.
