Dusty weather in Kuwait expected to continue

Monday, July 23, 2018

Veteran Kuwaiti astronomer Dr Saleh AlOjairi says the dusty weather in Kuwait is expected to continue until Monday, July 23, indicating that the temperatures are also expected to rise this week.

Meteorologist Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi said Kuwait is being affected by the Indian trough, which carry hot and dry air, and northwesterly winds of speed 70 kilometers per hour covering the western parts of Kuwait.

He indicated that the dusty winds minimize visibility levels to less than 1,000 meters especially in open areas, adding that the winds have resulted in increase in height of waves to almost seven feet.

In addition, Director of Directorate General for Civil Aviation Eng Emad Al-Sanousi revealed that flight schedules are ongoing as usual, saying he is expecting the visibility level to reduce to less than 500 meters which can affect some flights only at the time of landing. He stressed that visibility level at Kuwait International Airport is less than 1,000 meters, but it meets the regulations related to landings and take-offs.
