It was a dual celebration for the members of North Kanara Association – Kuwait (NKA-K) who came together on Wednesday 15th August, 2018, to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Assumption as well as to commemorate the Independence Day of India.

A festive atmosphere ensued when members of NKA-K joined for prayers, after the Eucharist celebration, at the residence of President John Fernandes. The highlight of the evening was the presence of Rev. Fr. Blany Pinto, Parish Priest of St. Therese Church, Salmiya, Kuwait, who delivered a short and meaningful talk on the topic of Mother Mary. This was followed by Holy Rosary led by Mr. Yasint Rodrigues.

After the prayer service, it was time to celebrate the 71st year of our India’s Independence. Unitedly, everyone sang the National Anthem with great patriotism, saluting the tricolor flag, which is the pride of every Indian.

A game of housie was being conducted to entertain the crowd and prizes were distributed.

The Gold Sponsor of the event was Grand Hypermarket and the other sponsor of the event was Arabian Beverage Company Ltd. Kuwait.

The sumptuous dinner that was voluntarily prepared by Mr. Joseph Fernandes with the assistance of some others was relished by each and everyone.

The feast day would be incomplete without the sweet delicacy, Patolis. This traditional sweet which is usually made during this particular feast, was prepared by some of the Association members who got together the previous evening at the President’s house and helped in the preparation. It showed solidarity that existed among members under the peaceful leadership of the current President, where every member was eager to support and contribute in their own way for the betterment of the Association.

Everyone enjoyed the delicious Patolis and thanked and appreciated the Executive Committee for their efforts in organizing such a joyful gathering, where people of different states came together to celebrate the feast gladly and unanimously. The function ended with a thanksgiving prayer.
