Robotic contest, ‘Invisibility Cloak’ major attractions at this year Shaastrotsav – Festival of Science

Preparations are in final stages for the 9th Shaastrotsav – Festival of Science, the unique science event for the public in Kuwait. The Festival of Science, organised by Kuwait chapter of NSS College of Engineering (India) Alumni Association in association with news portal Indiansinkuwait.com will be held on Friday, 14th December 2018 at Zumerida Hall – Salva from 10:00 am onwards.

As in the previous years, Indian schools and many professional organizations confirmed their participation in the day long events of Festival of Science, organizers said in a press briefing. Shaastrotsav is offering many new contests related to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for students and professionals.

Apart from Robotic Football, which was the major attraction of Shaastrotsav last year, Robotic Sumo Wrestling and Robotic Race are expected to attract huge interest among students, teachers and professionals as well as the general public. 9 school teams are participating in inter-school robotic Sumo Wrestling and 8 teams are participating in Robotic Race.

As of now 5 teams of highly skilled robotic enthusiasts confirmed participation in Robotic Football. In Middle East such technically challenging contests are not held by anyone else other than Shaastrotsav – Festival of Science, organisers said.

Rubik’s cube solving contest, which was first conducted as part of Shaastrotsav in 2012, attract more than 100 students each year. Winners of Shaastrotsav Rubik’s Cube Solving contests set new records each year by reducing time taken for solving the cube from 27 seconds in 2012 to 12 seconds last year. Ever since Shaastrotsav introduced this as a competition event in Kuwait for the first time, more and more children are attracted towards Rubik’s cube solving which requires mathematical ability.

As in every year, this day long science & technology event full of entertainment will end with an evening concluding function in which Mr. Pulkit Gaur of Gridbots Technologies will deliver keynote address and demonstrate many innovative technologies, including ‘Invisible cloak’. Pulkit Gaur has received TED Fellowship and MIT Young Innovator apart from various other national and international awards for his technological innovations

Other attractions of Shaastrotsav include science & technology exhibition in which 21 schools and 11 professional organizations are participating. Due to the high level of interest by students, Shaastrotsav is giving opportunity to more contestants in open category of science & technology exhibition than the previous years, in addition to inter-school contests.

Association of American Safety Professionals (ASSP) is joining Shaastrotsav to offer Computer Animation and Painting contests for students. These contests are on the theme ‘Safety in Day to Day Life’.

Attractive custom-made trophies and gifts will be awarded to all winners of Shaastrotsav contests. This year Shaastrotsav will be giving cash awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners of Inter-School Science & Technology projects exhibition and Open Category Science & Technology projects exhibition. Science enthusiasts in Kuwait consider Shaastrotsav – Festival of Science as a premier science and technology event for students, teachers, professionals and general public. Shaastrotsav will start at 10 AM on Friday 14th December and entry is FREE and unrestricted to all for this day long event.
