IEI – Kuwait Chapter Conducts Its 25th AGM at Copthorne Hotel, Kuwait City

The Institution of Engineers (India) Kuwait chapter has stepped into the 25th year of its glorious existence in the oil rich gulf state of Kuwait. The IEI – Kuwait Chapter’s General Secretary had served general body meeting notice to its members regarding the 25th AGM, which was conducted on Monday, 22nd April 2019 at Copthorne Hotel, Kuwait city. The members assembled in good numbers to attend the AGM organized by the chapter. Before the start of AGM, the members and guest were provided with High tea and snacks at the table counter.

Dr. Mahendhran, Chairman (2018-19) IEI Kuwait chapter welcomed the members, dignitaries, guests and explained in brief the activities of the Executive committee over the past one year and was very appreciative of the good work done by the Executive Committee members and the support group members for the wonderful events and the technical seminars organised during the eventful year. He requested all the members to extend their support to the activities of the chapter and to benefit from the technical seminars organised by the chapter to enrich themselves with the new technologies and knowledge shared.

Hon. General Secretary presented his report and listed the activities carried out during the year 2018 - 2019. He was very proud of his executive team and the support group member’s achievement in organizing many technical seminars at prominent venues, which were attended in full strength. He mentioned that 51st Engineers’ Day celebrations in a grand manner with many dignitaries attending the function and technical papers were presented on the Engineers day Theme provided by the IEI –HQ, at the prestigious Arab Fund Seminar Hall. International Conference, ICECIG-2019 was conducted on 12-13 January 2019. The Family day celebrations hosted by IEI Kuwait chapter were filled with fun and frolic. IEI family members & Children enjoyed the full day Family events, which was organised at the exciting venue, the Wafra farm.

The Secretary report was passed by the General body. The Treasurer Engr. Sudhir Menghani presented his Annual report on the Income and Expenditure statements for the year 2018-2019 and The Assets and Liabilities statement which were audited by Engr. I. Ilangovan. There were some questioned raised by the members on the expenditure and income statements and the treasurer replied to the queries. The Account statements were passed by the general body.

Dr. Mahendhran, Chairman dissolved the current Executive Committee and invited Engr. Joseph Panicker and Engr. Karunakaran to be the election officers to conduct the election process for electing the new Executive Committee members for the year 2019-2020.

Nomination forms were invited from the members for the post of the chairman, Hon. General Secretary, Treasurer, and committee members. After the submission of the nominations papers, which were scrutinized by the election committee members, Engr. Joseph Panicker declared the following members as elected unanimously to the following posts:
1. Engr. Ajay Kumar Sharma – Hon. Chairman
2. Engr. Sudhir Kumar Sahoo – Hon. General Secretary
3. Engr. Sam Ananth Kumar – Hon. Treasurer
4. Engr. Sivannarayana Edupuganti – Executive Member
5. Engr. Ramana Boddepalli – Executive Member
6. Engr. Prasad Rao Athikala – Executive Member
7. Engr. Upendra Kumar Behura – Executive Member
8. Engr. Vinayagamoorthy – Executive Member
9. Engr. Shankhar Chinnathambi – Executive Member

The new committee nominated Engr. I. Ilangovan as the Auditor for the period 2019-2020.
After the new committee was elected Engr. Ajay Kumar Sharma the new elected Chairman for the period 2019-20 thanked the members for the confidence posed in him and his team by electing them unanimously to lead the IEI Kuwait chapter. He confessed that the standards were set high by the outgoing team and he was confident that the new team will put their dedicated efforts to excel in all fields to provide excellent services to the members.
The IEI – Kuwait chapter Annual general body meeting came to an end with a sumptuous dinner served to all the invitees and members.
