It got its Independence from Great Britain in the year 1947, after long years of struggle and sacrifice. Now India is a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic Nation.

Independence Day is a national holiday in India. It’s a day commemorating the India’s Independence from the British. India attained independence through non-violent measures such as Non-cooperation Movement and Civil Disobedience Movement.

On Independence Day, a ceremony is held at Red Fort in which the Prime Minister hoist the tricolour national flag and address to the country detailing the various schemes and programmes held during previous year and outlining the future goals and aims. In the present India people enjoy equal rights and follow same rules. There are no unreasonable restrictions on citizens; people live together in harmony despite the difference in religion, language, custom and tradition. We achieved all this due to the hard work, efforts and bravery of the great leaders who fought for us and sacrificed their life for our country. On this day of independence we Indians pay tribute to those great leaders.

This year we are celebrating Independence Day in amidst of pandemic- COVID 19. The celebration will reflect the mood of a country in the middle of corona virus spread. Yet we should not lose our hope. With the help of government and the health workers we will be able to overcome this difficult situation.

Let us all join together under the tricolour flag to curb all the issues that affect the nation’s unity and work towards a better nation.

Wish you all a Happy Independence Day
