India in Retrospection – A Wonderland

India in Retrospection – A Wonderland

Most countries in the world have a history which has a well-defined start point, geographical demarcations, a culture that can be sourced back in time and historical events etc. Come to India and none of these exist or at least as accurately as many other countries have.

Though India’s past is obscure on physical plane the roots of belief are strong in the spiritual plane. India has stood the test of time based on this spiritual belief in all possibility.

A spiritual plane though seemingly is incomprehensible as we live in a physical plane, it is worth however doing some introspection.

On the physical plane there are some concepts and mechanisms that are worth noting for their significance. Let’s discuss some of them and how they are related to India

The number Zero: It is wisely said this number is the basis of all the properties of the numbers we use in our daily life. Without zero we do not have any numerical significance. The inventor or proponent of zero is not known clearly, but we do have semblance of proof that the number zero originated from India and that too from a great astronomer Aryabhata (476–550 CE). The Mayans, Babylonians used this number and it is said that their number system was influenced by the Indian number system.

The question is how Aryabhata even thought of this number zero, if he is just living on the physical plane. Something should trigger the original thinking. Remember it is a number zero not something physical that we can even dream off. This kind of thinking on abstract issues has to come from beyond a physical plane. This needs spiritual strength which roots our consciousness in eternity.

The Vimanas:Flying machines or vimanas as described in Sanskrit, are commonplace in ancient Indian texts, even describing their use in warfare. It’s difficult to imagine something artificial heavier than air to fly across the land or oceans. Eons ago this concept of the physical world was thought of.

How is this possible? The vimanas require a design, then construction, then training the men to fly etc. If the concept came from within the physical world then it requires a great deal of thinking for us on how could it be even possible? Where the concept of flying for humans was came from? Why did they think of machines to fly in the first place? Who gave the first technology to design such machines? If tis beyond the physical plane then yes in a spiritual world these things can be possible. This needs spiritual strength which roots our consciousness in eternity.

Human Anatomy:It is well known fact that that medical treatises were written long ago like Caraka Samhita, Susruta Samhita, Astanaga Samgraha etc. These are not simple texts but treatises. With no extraneous instruments to probe in to the human bodies these greats have written the treatises with great understanding and deep knowledge. How could one comprehend such vastness of knowledge just by plain living in a physical plane? How do such thoughts even originate in the minds of these greats? Who gave them insight into the anatomy of the human body? What science they had in their minds to think of the human body? This needs spiritual strength which roots our consciousness in eternity.

Many more wonderful inventions, brilliant concepts etc in India took place. The beauty of all these wonderful aspects we have no proper records but cannot be contested either that they are not originated from India. That is where the plane beyond physical plane comes into picture. This spiritual plane transcends and transfuses into every physical thing we can think of. If not for the play of this spiritual plane nothing what we know of ancient India can possibly happen.

Therefore India you can see in the physical map of the world, but India is something beyond this physical world which is why it stood test of time, withstood wars and ravages of time. It is still a force to reckon with and will be for eons to come.

On such days as Republic Day it is good we not only remember our great leaders who brought fame and respect to our great nation, but it is also time to remember these greats of ancient India who acted as a bridge between the physical tangible world and the spiritual intangible plane. That is why India is a wonderland.

Jai Hind!
