Eco Club Inauguration At Bhavans Kuwait

Jleeb, June 10, 2019: Indian Educational school, (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kuwait) celebrated the commencement of Eco Club activities for the academic year 2019-20 by organizing the Bhavans’ Eco Club inaugural ceremony along with World Environmental Day celebration in the IES school auditorium on June 10, 2019.

This propitious occasion was honored by the gracious presence of Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal, IES and Mrs. Meenakshi Nayyar, the Vice Principal, CCA. The eventful and memorable proceedings were witnessed by the students of grade 7 and the Eco Club Warriors.

Lakshmi Nanda Madhusoodhanan of 8B, the Eco Club secretary delivered the welcome address. It was a truly thoroughgoing formal address with a cordial welcome to all the guests, a riveting briefing on pollution and its effects, the importance of saving the earth and the initiatives to be taken. She also reminded that World Environment Day aims to stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and encourage political attention and action.

The principal’s inaugural speech began on a warning note to the disheartening crisis of water. He elucidated the importance of spreading awareness among the people on conservation of water. He also reiterated the relevance of the World Environment Day 2019-theme ‘Beat Air Pollution.’ It left the audience to ponder over his words that kindled love and respect for the dying Earth. He urged the audience to arise, awake and work together to save the mother Earth. He congratulated the organizers of the Eco Club on their earnest endeavors.

A moving documentary on the theme of World Environment Day “Beat Air Pollution” was screened for the audience. In between the video, there were displays of snippets of messages from the staff and a few chosen students. Mrs. Meenakshi Nayyar’s (the vice principal, cocurricular activities) request to conserve the Earth with her touching notes on the causes, effects, and problems galvanized the audience and left an indelible impression on the young minds.

The infotainment skit presented by the Eco Club warriors on air pollution was a delightful visual fiesta for the audience. The witty dialogues and the creative content coupled with the flawless acting of the warriors was indeed a visual treat. As part of the Eco Club initiative, paper bags were given to the prefects of every class to discourage the use of plastic.

The audience then stood up for the oath taking ceremony. It was truly a marvel to see everyone taking the oath with great hopes in their minds and pride in their hearts. The Eco Club also announced their intention to launch an eco-magazine for the benefit of the lovers of nature. Akshat Rajesh, 8A, the president of the Eco Club, proposed the vote of thanks. Abhipsa of 8F was the emcee for the day.
