Delay in sending Answer sheets from Kuwait; Students marked Absent in Board result

Large number of students who appeared for their 10th and 12th grade NIOS Board Exams in Kuwait are in a quandary when the results were declared as all the students who appeared for the exams in Kuwait were marked as Absent.

NIOS officially published 12th Board exam results on Wednesday, 5th June 2019 and thereafter 10th standard on their website. The students and parents were surprised when checking the result as the website showed only the practical marks while the theory marks were displayed as “AB” (Absent).

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an autonomous institution under Government of India. The NIOS is a national board that administers examinations for Secondary and Senior Secondary examinations similar to the CBSE and the CISCE.

Number of students from Kuwait attended this year's exam where Indian Community School, ICSK was the only centre in Kuwait. As per the procedure, all answer sheets for board exams will be sealed and handed over to the Indian Embassy. The Embassy will send the answer sheets to the respective board for valuation.

Students and parents alike are in a dilemma as their results have not yet come and the admission for higher students are in its final stage. "We got stuck with my daughters admission for higher studies as our results have not yet come and nobody is giving a concrete answer on when the results will be out", said an angry parent. "We do not know whether it is a fault from the exam centre or the delay is from the Indian Embassy", he added.

When contacted, the ICSK principal confirmed that the answer sheets were handed over to the Embassy official immediately after the exams. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait received the answer sheets in April this year, however as per NIOS, the answer sheets did not reach them. "I had contacted the embassy immediately after I came to know about this issue and had requested them to do the necessary steps at the earliest," ICSK principal Dr Binumon told IndiansinKuwiat.com. “I had also requested NIOS to release the results at the earliest", he added.

When contacted, the Indian Embassy informed IndiansinKuwiat.com that even though there was a technical delay in sending the sheets to Delhi, we are in constant touch with NIOS to release the results at the earliest. The answer sheets are now with the NIOS and the results of those students will be released within a week, Indian Embassy informed.

Why do we need an ambassador over here? What is his job? To entertain people and inaugurate bakalas? Shameful. Why should the innocent students suffer?

In reply to Ramakrishnan, CBSE is one of the worst education boards in our country. I have been visiting my daughter''s school asking for the class X migration certificate and the school office just shuns me out stating that CBSE has not sent it as yet. A few schools have got and many others haven''t got it. I called up the tele-counselor and Gulf CBSE school chairman Mr. Premkumar of Bhavans who is one principal who gives a reply that makes sense. He told me that they are dispatched by SPEED POST end of May and it is lying in Kuwait Post office ( another difficult department here) and no one knows the tracking numbers. He called up CBSE, wrote to them all in vain. He has promised that next week some reply is expected. Now imagine a body where in more than 11 lack kids wrote the exam and how they are playing with schools. We pay 10 times the fees to CBSE for the examination and see how careless they are! I called up embassy and as usual answer is they have no say in this. Who the hell is then answerable for the kids missing out on admissions for want of these documents?
Shame on CBSE and their officers.

Just imagine the credibility of the NIOS results that was released within 15 days after escalating the issue by angry parents. Correction was done in 15 days, posting marks done in 15 days and result released in 15 days. All because of "Indian Embassy''s Technical Delay". Only they know the meaning of that term.
CBSE result of 2019-20 is just a mockery of the evaluation of papers by CBSE this year. Readers would have read the number of 100s and the subjects like Hindi. No one can but god save the CBSE and their officials.

Can Indian Embassy define the term “technical delay” in the above article. Forgetfulness and irresponsibility cannot be categorized under “technical delay “.

After 15 days, today the 12th STD results are available on NIOS website. Thanks to those who followed up and escalated this critical issue with NIOS but definitely not ICSK and Indian Embassy.
