Center for India Studies, Kuwait Celebrates Vijay Diwas

Centre For India Studies (CIS-Kuwait) organized an event VIJAY DIWAS commemorating the success of Operation Vijay and remembering the supreme sacrifice of the Indian Armed force personnel during combat operations.

Captain Anil Kumar Kurup (Retd NSG Commando) who took part in the Kargil Operations was the chief guest at the ceremony. Captain shared his experience of the Kargil operations. He pointed out that Kargil Operation was significant in nature since it defied the laws of warfare. Indian forces fought against the odds and claimed victory by starting operations from the ground moving to the higher inhospitable altitudes of snow-capped mountains. This was a perfect example of immense will power a soldier has within. Captain Anil Kumar encouraged the younger generations to join the forces in serving the country with pride and honour.

Praveen Vasudevan - General Secretary of Seva Darshan Kuwait speaking on the occasion pointed out the role of nationalistic organizations in promoting a strong and secure India. He pointed that NRIs can also be part of national security stream by being more vigilant and infusing the sense of national pride in oneself.

CIS Executive member and Media Convener Biju Nettoor Welcomed the gathering that was presided over by CIS Executive Member and Public relations Convener Anil Bhaskar who briefed the gathering about activities being conducted by CIS in the region. Rekha Biju anchored the event marked by patriotic group song by students, silent prayer in homage to fallen heroes, Honouring the chief guest was done by Mahadevan Aiyer - President of Center for India Studies, Kuwait.
