Who Is A Teacher?

“A teacher’s purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image.”

Who is a teacher? A teacher is a friend, a guide and a trainer. But above all, a teacher is an inspiration for all students. I remember, when my friends and I were strolling around the school grounds, we were complaining about the boring history and physics lectures we had to endure in our classes. When I reached home, my dad asked me how was school that day I replied, “Dad, classes are so boring. I bet the teachers purposely make their lectures so boring!” The only thing he said was, “There will be a day when you will be grateful for all the boring lectures she has presented before you.” To this day, after he had got a good job, he still visits his teachers every time we go to our homeland.

A teacher’ impact can last a lifetime. Every individual is an enlarged replica of their teacher. Sir Issac Newton once said and I quote, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulder of giants.” The giants he was referring to were his teachers. Teachers are the beacon who empower us to reach our goals. We may be a diamond, one in a billion, but without our teachers who polishes and harden us, we will still be a rock waiting for someone to polish us. Teachers make us be the person who can change the course of history.

A teacher can change the perspective of how we think and imagine of our world. This is why a teacher’s role is very important in our society. Teachers are a great source of knowledge, prosperity and enlightenment. A teacher molds the shapes the character of a student. Without a teacher showing us the right and wrong in our life we are a just a numb body without a fighting spirit to survive in this world.

We say that school is our second home and our teachers are our second mother. This is true everywhere in the world. A teacher teaches the students discipline and builds our character. We tend to respect our teachers after our parents. This is because the greatest lessons we learn in our lives is in a classroom. All the so-called “boring” lectures we hear, the “tiring” notes we write is not for the benefit or for the satisfaction of our teachers but for us to improve and lead a successful life.

According to scientific studies, students show more enthusiasm in their academics when teachers too are enthusiastic about their work. A teacher can make a student’s subject either hard or easy to learn. This is also one of the reasons why a role of a teacher is really crucial and important in a society and to a students life.
I would like to sum up my article by quoting a famous quote by the Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, “One child, One teacher, One book and One pen can change the world!”

Happy Teacher’s Day!!! Jai Hind!!!
