SIMS spreads Social message through inter- class skit competition

Abraham Lincoln once said teach the children, so it will not be necessary to teach the adults and what better way to teach than through song, dance and drama.

Skit Competitions do not only strengthen ones’ confidence to face the audience but also helps in developing awareness about the surroundings and the daily happenings. Young learners are the best messengers to spread the awareness of the social and global issues and their voice do leave an impact on ones’ mind. To bring out the acting talent, flair of the students and to spread the message of social concerns Salmiya Indian Model School School organized Skit competition on 22nd October 2019 and 23rd October 2019 for the students of grade 2 and 3

The students of grade 3 performed skits on themes like “Joy of Giving”, “Self Discipline”, “Life is Beautiful”, “Mobile Mania”, “Importance of Reading”, “Save Fuel, Save the Earth”, and “Effects of Social Media”. The students of grade 2 performed skits on the themes like “ respect”, “money cannot buy everything”, “kindness”, “the adverse effects of mobile”, “child labour”, “healthy food vs junk food”, “save trees”, “importance of education” etc. Every skit performed on stage gave away a strong message. The performances on stage was a sight to watch. The students acted naturally, meticulously and perfectly. The collaborative efforts and hard work of the teachers and students was evident as the students performed brilliantly on the stage. Some of the skits were accompanied by song and dance, which was beautifully coordinated by the students. All the teams were at their creative best, as there was a limit to the number of properties that could be used by each team. The performance of the budding actors was also successful in providing food for thought. The topics for the event were carefully chosen and mirrored the concerns of the society at large.

Although, the event was competitive in nature, the applause that each team received by the audience and Judges was testimony to the fact that each one of them was a winner, as all the plays had conveyed a powerful message. Mrs Anita Sadanand complimented the teachers and students for their efforts.
