A glorious day- Spin a Yarn contest and Seminar for the Students

To encourage the student community, popular community portal conducted yet another ‘Spin - A - Yarn' Contest and Seminar on Thursday, 31st October 2019 at Gurukul Auditorium, Salmiya from 6:00 PM onwards.

Around 16 students from various Indian schools participated in this unique contest and came up with different stories. They presented a humorous and funny talk on serious topics to catch the audiences and took them to a new level of imagination. The theme for the contest was - “Humor is a Serious Business” . Various topics were given to the participants which included " Smile Away your Blues", "To Be or Not to Be is the question", "Truth Prevails Always" etc.

The unique contest organized by IIK provided participants the opportunity to bring out to their wildest imagination in the most humorous way. This contest also provided a platform for the parents to watch how the children develop their personality through communication skills.

There were 16 participants - Junior and Senior from 9 Indian schools. The participants put up a great show with each one narrating a very different story filled with humor and laughter. The audience and judges were spellbound by the mind-blowing performances of these young narrators.

Each and every participant was awarded with a certificate of participation for their wonderful performance by IndiansinKuwait.com.

The winners of the competition were:

Junior Section -

First Place: Nakshatra Neeraja Binu from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan

Second Place: Hima Jameela from ICSK - Khaitan

Third Place: Shivani Menon from Salmiya Indian Model School

Senior Section -

First Place: Efrem Joseph Charls - ICSK Amman

Second Place: Usri Banerjee from FAIPS-DPS

Third Place: Shaik Affaan from Indian Learners Own Academy

The First Prize winners received a Trophy , Certificate and Bag from IIK, Sponsor Al Rashed International Company and Gurukul. Second and Third Prize winners received Silver and Bronze medals along with Certificate and Bags sponsored by Al Rashed International Company and Gurukul respectively. Prizes were given to the winners by Mr Venugopal, Project Manager of Al Rashed International Company, Mr Surya Prakash, Chief Judge and IIK Officials.

The second half of the program was a Seminar conducted by Mr Crawford Wilson D'souza:"Befriend Your FEAR". He explained how Kids can overcome their various fears with the power of mind. He showed some practical activities to make kids understand how to overcome their Fear. The Seminar was very interesting and Interactive.

The first of its kind on the spot "Tongue Twister" Contest attracted the packed audience. Prizes were given to Kids who said the Tongue Twister sentences most number of times in a given time by the sponsor Gurukul.

The Spin A Yarn Contest was very well conducted and compered by Emcee - Johan Varghese Sajan, Contest Chairs - Kezia Susan Sajan and Saad Mohammed Khan.

The contest was judged by Mr Rajesh Verlekar, Dr Navniit Gandhi, Mr. Sadiq Ali, Ms Malini Vishwanath and Chief Judge -Mr Surya S Prakash.

The sponsors for the event were Al Rashed International Shipping Company and Gurukul.
