Environment Day: Small Steps Towards Big Changes

Environment Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices. It was established by the United Nations in 1972, and celebrated annually on June 5th. This day serves as a reminder of our responsibility to protect the environment and leave a healthy and sustainable environment for the future generations.

As we all know that without water and food we cannot survive, similarly our environment is one of the most important aspects to survive on this planet. Without it, we cannot survive even a single day. For instance, our skin will burn, our lungs will rupture, our blood pressure will rise, etc. Thus it is important that we should take care of the environment. There are various problems that affect our environment such as plastic pollution, global warming and biodiversity loss.

On World Environment Day, people take leave from their work and join together to spread awareness about environment protection. In my school ‘ICSK’, we students prepared recycle bins, boards and even planted many trees and plants. During the pandemic, our school created an app ‘ICSK CLOUD’ for circulars and class notes. On that app, there is a section called ‘Flora Snap’ where we can send the photos of planting trees. Our school ICSK Khaitan planted 3679 trees, and ICSK all branches planted 23352 trees.

Furthermore, in schools, the teachers teach the students about the methods of planting a tree. Also, the teachers encourage the students to bring a sapling from their homes and plant them inside the campus.

To improve the environment conditions, governments and organizations can introduce strict laws like banning dumping wastes in rivers and plain lands, condemning the use of plastics and try to follow the 4rs principles “ Refuse, Reuse, Reduce and Recycle”. There are 5 simple ways to protect the environment :-

1.Education :- It can help the future generations to understand the value of the environment.

2.Plant Trees :- Trees provide food and oxygen which is essential for the survival of humans.

3.Use electricity carefully :- If you don't waste electricity, it will reduce the greenhouse gas emissions.

4.Shop wisely :- Avoid using plastic bags and carry a leather reusable shopping bag.

5.Volunteer :- We can volunteer to clean up society and also take part in protecting the environment.

As we celebrate Environment Day, let us reflect on our actions and their impact on the environment. This day is a call to action for individuals, communities, and nations to come together and take actions to protect the environment. By working together, adopting sustainable practices, and supporting conservation efforts, we can create a healthier and more sustainable world for the future generations.
