Procedure for Arabic name change if it does not match passport for civil ID issuance

I am writing this to highlight the procedure required to correct the name in the civil ID if the ARABIC name is wrong in the system.

I went through a month of hell to figure this out and hopefully can help others avoid having to go through similar troubles.

When I applied for online renewal of Civil ID after renewing residency, I got a message saying Arabic name does not match name on passport and to visit PACI with my passport.

Here''s what to do when this happens:
-Dont''t go to PACI first, instead you need a certificate from your embassy confirming your name on passport. Get that from your embassy and head off to PACI.
-In PACI, they will issue you a paper and tell you to do fingerprints on it, go to the fingerprint office (locations varies based on where you live) and register your prints. They will ask you to return in one week.
-Now you need to change the name from MOI (jawazat/passport office) for it to be changed in the system at PACI - PACI will write the name that is in the system, and only MOI can change that.
-Before going to MOI, you need to get the embassy certificate attested from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and put 5KD stamp on it.
-In MOI passport office, you will go to an officer (I went to computer section but was asked to go to officer for Arabic name correction) who will ask you for the attested embassy certificate and then you will print an application for name correction. He will stamp it.
-Next, go back to fingerprint office and get the the MOI application stamped. They will ask to wait one week and return to MOI (jawazat). Once you go back they will change the name in the system and give you a print out. CONFIRM the name in both Arabic and English for any mistakes.
-Finally, the paper from PACI needs stamps from fingerprint office to saying there are no judgements/executions on you.
-Then you take the MOI print out and PACI issued paper with stamps (3 or 4 stamps) and go to PACI to apply for new ID.

Wondering at the first instance they themselves made the wrong name and we are now suffering!!!

Now my issue, I got a new civil id and with Arabic Name, there is my fathers name also written. ie my name in passport is AA BB and my Father name is CC DD. In Civil ID, My name in Arabic is written as AA BB CC DD. Will it be an issue? Anybody with similar case traveled recently? I am travelling to India next week. Plz explain if anyone traveled recently..

@Muneer I highly advise you to go ask at PACI before travelling. A lot of people have been stopped at the airport which ends up being a major hassle. And as far as I know, they want the name on passport to be exactly same as the Civil ID. So of your passport has fathers name mentioned anywhere you should be good, but better safe than sorry Good Luck

As far as I know the whole issue is

that your name in English (as per PP) MUST match with the name in English in CID. No relation of Arabic name in CID as PP has no Arabic name.

Indian PP shows only English name while Arab countries PP has English and Arabic names (2 languages). Matching of names in English & Arabic (as per PP) with English & Arabic names in CID might be applicable for Arab people.

Correct me if I am wrong.

@Idli Dosa I think you are wrong. Kuwait''s system has names in Arabic and that''s the most important to them. As such, the name has to be correct in Arabic and then it is written in English according to what''s there in Arabic.

@Thanks The embassy paper contains your name in Arabic. I think people with Arabic names in passport might not require that paper. Not sure though

Hello cyclone,
Thank you for the information. I am following your instructions. I have mistake in my Arabic name. I already finished my fingerprint with paper from PACI. I got a paper stamped from MOI & was told to go to fingerprint again. My doubt is I should do the fingerprint again or only to stamp the paper from fingerprint office? Kindly reply.

Dear friends my case also same as you after I renewe my wife Visa her name in civil ID got updated as per passport same as in the passport given name surname with out any spelling mistake in perfect order but her name in Arabic is in Perfect order but after her name her father name and surname is there in arbic do I have to change this

Did you had any problem did you traveled with same civil ID or did you change Arabic name

Dear Sir,

my english name in passport and civil id is same ( ANOOP NEELITHODIKA ) and my father name is KRISHNAN NEELITHODIKA. While considering the arabic name in civil id it shows "ANOOP KRISHNAN".

May I know whether its ok? if not, whom should I contact?

Hi All, Just wanted to update you.

I traveled India and came back last week.

My name in Passport is AA BB. My fathers Name is CC DD.
While getting new civil id last most, I made my name in civil ID in English as AA BB (Which is exactly same as Passport).
But the Name in Arabic in Civil ID AA BB CC (first name of father added to the name)
Passport number in CivilID was perfectly correct.

I traveled to India and Came back. I didn''t faced any issue. From both Kuwait airport and India airport, they checked my Civil ID and returned it back happily.

I want to know if you travel led and came back on same civil Id or cropped the fathers name from Civil ID.

My name in civil id is given as AA BB CC but in English it is written as CC AA BB ... could someone please tell me if it is okay to travel or should I correct it ?

You will be required to have your name on the civil id in the same sequence as on passport that is First Name; Middle/Second name Last/ ; Family Name/ Surname.

So AA BB CC on passport should also reflect as AA BB CC on civil id and hence you need to correct it. Latin/English name has to match the passport.

I had the same issue wherein PP had AA BB CC and Civil ID had CC BB AA.
My HR had the Latin name corrected during my residence renewal.

However, my name in Arabic still follows CC BB AA.

Dear cyclone465. you wrote the procedures very nicely. Thanks for it.

My residence was recently renewed and my English name on 1st page of PP does not match with English name on CID as well as not matching with Arabic name on CID.

Mandoub says English name correction on CID is easy but not easy task to correct Arabic name on CID. Need to consult you. Pls. provide me your mail ID to contact you.
