Empty stomachs with filled hearts

Ramadan is a very important month in the Islamic calendar. It is the time for us to appreciate and be thankful for all the things that have been given to us. For me Ramadan always has a special place in my heart. Fasting for the whole month of Ramadan is a different experience. In this holy month we take advantage by focusing more on our faith and our relationship with God. Ramadan gives us the chance to prove our self-discipline. This holy month teaches us that no joy can equal to the joy of serving others through charitable deeds. It's so easy to get caught up with what society deems as “wealth "and “happiness” but it requires a great mind to give up our mere gluttonous pleasures for the sake of others happiness. Fasting during Ramadan helps me to realize what is most important in life. In life our priorities should focus on helping those less fortunate and the needy ones. During Ramadan it is forbidden to eat or drink from sunrise to sunset, although empty in our stomachs we enjoy Ramadan with our hearts filled with kindness and compassion. Welcome to the most blessed month of the year, Ramadan!
