Hmmm… is that a strand of gray hair I see!!?? Ugh… I’m growing old. Hey there fella? That’s a weird one you clicked on right there! You better tell me more on that one because… you literally clicked on something entitled “I’m growing old folks!”
Well that isn’t a lie, I still remember running round as a 2nd grader while rocking a Santa Claus outfit… man those were the days.
“Woah hello! Wake up! Can’t go to dreamland… just yet.”
Fine. But here I am now, a 9th grader sitting in some PJs (#PJsRuleTheWorld) and writing about… growing old?
Well not exactly… you see gotta push up those glasses until your nose breaks… into “WE’RE SOARING!! WE’RE FLYING!!!” I mean imagine if with just a swipe with your OG glasses, your nose erupts into HSM songs? Damn I would rub my nose day in and day out like the genie’s lamp. (That’s enough Disney references… for now.)
Well with a singing nose for a radio, I open up my good ol’ mate… Googlio… (Someone hire me already?!! I’ll make the best of fictional spells, like that’s pure talent right there.)
And after a lot of dorae-… I mean chota bh-… I’M A MATURE TEENAGER ALRIGHT! Phew! Well after a bit of surfing through the waves of the internet I stumble upon something that goes like this…
THE WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS 2021 RELEASED.
THIS IS MY MATURE SELF TO SHINE!!! Little did I know, my mature self was soon gonna turn into a regretful self, regretting every decision I’ve ever taken in my life.
But just like all the old wise homo sapiens recite, take it one step a time. So let me tell you all the thingy-ama-jiggies (Whoever invented this word, may the heavenly gods bless you.)
The conversation to my regret-… I mean the fantabulous start to the inspiring journey to proving my mature self, started off something like this.
“Dad?!!!!!”
“Yep.”
“The World University-…”
“Is it MIT again?”
“Well-…”
“Yes or no.”
“Yeah but-…”
“Studying for it?”
“Not yet… You see Imma go for Harvard-…”
“Are. You. Studying. For. It.”
“Not yet I-…”
“Yes or out.”
“Bye. ?”
Well yeah… you see I ain’t the studying type, sitting down and seeing words dancing around with “ThE fReNcH rEvOlUtIoN…”
Right… it just doesn’t sit right with me…
I’m in 9th grade and no joke it’s serious and it sure is getting to me but… hey that’s the fun of life right? One night crying yourself to sleep while another day, stuffing yourself with ice cream with your best mates, it’s all part of that fun I guess…
I personally share a deep love for economics and aspire to be the chief economist at IMF someday and want to get into Harvard. I know all of you, whatever age you are, have a dream. Remember never give up.
For all the fellow students who feel the whole career and future thing is killing you, I feel ya! And remember you ain’t alone. We all are overwhelmed but I do know one thing, we ALL will get through this.
