Lemon grass is also known as lemon grass and citronella grass, it is a perennial grass that grows in many tropical climates, most notably in Southeast Asia. Lemon grass is an herb with a lemon scent. Lemon grass requires plenty of rain during the growing season. Lemon grass is also cultivated in ornamental purposes and used as a source of scented oil.

Some facts about lemon grass:

Lemon grass has stiff stems which grow in the form of dense clumps. Lemon grass can grow faster if maintain proper soil, sand, water and sunlight. Lemon grass can be used fresh, dried or in the form of powder. It has lemony, ginger-like taste that perfectly complements dishes made of meat, fish and seafood. It is used for the preparation of soups, for the marinades and sauces.

Lemon grass can be consumed in the form of herbal teas, cocktails and other refreshing beverages.

Lemon grass can be used in treatment of stress, insomnia, poor digestion and for detoxification of the body. Essential oils of lemon grass mixed with pepper can be used in treatment of menstrual disorders and nausea. Lemon grass is often used in the cosmetics industry for the manufacture of perfumes, soaps and deodorants. Essentials oils of lemon grass are common ingredients of massage oils and candles that are used in aromatherapy. It can also be used to prevent insect bites. Lemon grass is also known as “SWEET RUSH” in the Caribbean, where it is mostly used in treatment of common cold and fever.

Benefits of lemon grass:

The health benefits of lemon grass begins with a rich source of essential vitamins such as vitamin A, vitaminB1, vitaminB2, vitamin B3, vitaminB5, vitamin B6, and vitamin C.

Many studies have confirmed that lemon grass, typically consumed as lemon grass tea, is highly effective in combatting various stomach infections ,prevents ulcers, stimulates digestion and elimination and beneficial for treating nausea, stomach aches and constipation. Lemon grass also has diuretic properties that help to flush toxins from system, and maintain digestion system.

Drinking a cup of lemon grass tea helps to regulate digestion and improve metabolism, it also improves to break down the fatty acids.it also in better sleep.

Lemon grass for skin and hair:

Lemon grass brightens skin and clears the complexion, is naturally antibacterial and promotes strong and healthy hair growth.

Benefits of lemon grass is good for cancer patients too because lemon grass tea is effective at fighting cancer.

Lemon grass helps you to recover from cold and flu. It is highly effective at bringing a fever down, fighting infections and easing aches and pains. It also relieves coughs and congestion.

Lemon grass is highly effective at treating a host of health issues including boosting your immune system, lowering cholesterol, treating asthma, diabetes etc.

How to make Lemon grass tea:

Ingredients:

•Water

•Tea

•1large stalk of Lemon grass

•2inch knob of ginger (peeled and chopped)

•Sugar as per your requirement

First boil the water and then add the stalk of lemon grass let it boil and as the water reduce add chopped ginger and let it boil and then add tea and sugar.

This is my mom’s tea recipe which I drink daily to get all the above benefits.

I would like to suggest, to add lemon grass in your daily diet as it is very good for the prevention of diseases like coronavirus also.
