The Tiranga which is another name for our flag is the National flag of India. There are lists of people who fought against the British for freedom. Hence, this day is celebrated as Independence Day.
India got its Independence on August 15 1947. So this day is celebrated as National Independence Day, as well it’s a national holiday too. It is one of the 3 national holidays (the other 2 being the Republic Day and the Gandhi Jayanthi). It is observed in all Indian states and Union Territories. On the eve of Independence day, President of India, delivers the '' Address to the nation''. On 15th August, the Prime Minister hoists the Indian flag in Red fort, Delhi. 21 gun shots are fired. The Prime Minister highlights the past years achievements, raises important issues and calls further development. He pays tribute to the leaders of the Indian Independence movement. The Indian national anthem '' Jana Gana Mana'' is sung. It is followed by a march past of divisions of the Indian Armed Forces and paramilitary forces. Parades and pageants showcase scenes from the independence struggle and India's diverse cultural. Similar events, take place in state capitals where the chief ministers of individual states unfurl the national flag, followed by parades and pageants.
Flag history ceremonies and cultural pageants takes place in governmental and non- governmental institutions throughout the country. Schools and colleges conduct flag hoisting ceremonies and various cultural events. Citizens wear the clothes, wristband, caps and accessories with replica of the tri-color.
Every Indians must remember that the liberty that they enjoy today would not have been possible without the great people, who sacrificed their lives and fought for the nation’s independence. We need to honor them, by making the present and the forth coming generations realize the pain and sufferings faced by the great souls who struggled and laid their lives to keep “TIRANGA” flying in glory.
So let’s celebrate this day with full of happiness and gratitude.
