AMUOBA Elected New Office Bearers

Aligarh Muslim University is an Indian public university, located 125 kms. north of the Indian Capital, New Delhi. It was established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875, which later in 1920 came to be known as the Aligarh Muslim University. Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) draws students from all corners of the country as well as foreign countries, especially Africa, West Asia and Southeast Asia. In some courses, seats are reserved for students from SAARC and Commonwealth Countries. The University has Faculties viz. Agricultural Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Engineering & Technology, Law, Life Sciences, Medicine, Management Studies & Research, Science, Social Sciences, Theology, Unani Medicine, each comprising of several Departments of Studies like Centre of Professional Courses in Tourism and Computer Technology, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, Dental College, Institute of Ophthalmology, Centre for Advanced Studies in History, West Asian Studies, Centre for Quranic Studies, Schools including one for the visually challenged.

The AMU alumni concentration in Kuwait until a few years back had been relatively small, hence an informal type of association, normally led by one or two or more individuals used to gather socially from time to time. But with the passage of time, when the strength started increasing, the need was felt to have a formal association with officers, a set of objectives. The year 2016 proved to be a remarkable year, when this loose association became an official body with a formal recognition granted by the general body of AMU, alumni in Kuwait through electoral ballot. The AMU OLD BOYS ASSOCIATION (AMUOBA), which thus came into existence, is an association whose members share common vision, mission, belief, values and traditions. Subsequently, it got recognition from the Indian Embassy. There are app. 350 AMU Alumni who dominate and are actively contributing to achieve the Kuwaiti Vision 2035.

Alumni are the genuine asset to any university because they will forever fill a significant role for both – the University and their fellow students. They are the most loyal supporters, vibrant voice and an international ambassadors of their alma mater. AMUOBA is a non-profit, non-political socio cultural organisation based on secular and pluralistic character. The aims and objectives of the association are to work with no friction for a better governance and good delivery of results.
