Diwali – Festival of Lights

Diwali, is also known as Deepavali celebrated all over India symbolizing defeat of evil. We celebrate Diwali because on this day Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. It is the time of the year when we miss our motherland and want to be together with our families and friends. Also, it is the time when we clean our houses and decorate with creative ideas. NRI’ s celebrate Diwali by:

Buying traditional sweets such as rasgullas, gulab jamun, rasmalai, motichoor ladoos, besan ladoos, kaju katli, barfi, soan papdi, etc.. to make their day pleasant.

Diyas are the important item for decoration for Diwali that symbolizes existence of positivity and victory of light over darkness. NRI’s decorate their houses with diyas and candlesto fill their home with joy, love, happiness, and light.

People also buy gold and silver coins at that day for prosperity and good luck in life. There are Lord Ganesha and Godess Lakshmi drawn on the coins.

They also worship Godess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha for wealth and wisdom in their houses and also sends traditional sweets and gifts for happiness.

Children eagerly wait for this day to come for bursting crackers and having fun. They also recieve many gifts and money. People aslo keep dinner and parties at their home for sharing joyness with everyone. Wishing you all a very “Happy Diwali”... Stay healthy and Stay safe.
