Embassy organized Expert Talk on Made-In-India COVAXIN

On World health Day, Indian Embassy in Kuwait organized an expert talk in Made-in-India Covaxin - the success story from Pharmacy of the world at Embassy auditorium, which was attended by large number of people online.

“We are more grateful than ever to all of the healthcare workers fighting the COVID19 pandemic. Their selfless service and sacrifices is what has saved many a lives,” Ambassador Sibi George said.

The event was virtually inaugurated by Shri Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Europe & Covid-19), Ministry of External Affairs. Sri Dammu Ravi is the nodal officer in the Ministry of External Affairs on Covid 19 related issues and is leading India’s efforts to support the global fight against COVID-19.

Ambassador, in his speech, highlighted the growth of Indian pharma sector, which supplies over 60% of global demand for various vaccines.

He encouraged the investor community in Kuwait to look at this thriving sector and the plethora of exciting investment opportunities in this high growth sector. He also encourages the pharma sector in Kuwait start using Indian pharma products.

President of the Kuwait Medical Association (KMA) His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Thuweini, who also attended the event thanked the thousands of health workers from India working hand in hand with Kuwait. “As the regional president for Middle east and North Africa of the World Medical Association, I thank the pharmacy of the world India for the support for the whole world to fight against the pandemic,” Dr. Ahmed Thuweini said.

President of the Indian Doctors Forum (IDF) Dr Amir Ahmed also spoke on the occasion and urged all Indians to register for the vaccination. Dr Amir explained in detail about the Covaxin and other vaccinations against Covid-19.

Dr. Raches Ella, Project Lead for all SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and Head - Business Development & Advocacy at Bharat Biotec made a key note presentation on Covaxin. He highlighted the different trial phases of Covaxin and the key points behind it.

The fight against COVID-19 is still a work in progress. We need to remain vigilant; share knowledge, updated information and best practices to remain ahead of the curve in this ongoing battle against this deadly infection.

Embassy had earlier organized a Symposium on Covid-19 in association with the Indian Doctors Forum.
