In a historic moment, ICC World Cup Trophy was unveiled at Kuwait on its maiden trophy tour to Kuwait. The trophy was unveiled in a glittering ceremony at the iconic Al Hashemi, the largest hand made wooden dhow (Guinness World Record Holder) at the Radisson Blu hotel by the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H E Dr Adarsh Swaika, President of Kuwait Cricket Mr Haider Abbas Farman, ICC Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Associate Members in the ICC Mr. Imran Khawaja and a host of other dignitaries. India will be hosting ICC Men's Cricket World Cup from October 5 to November 19.
The glittering ceremony was attended by officials from Kuwait Cricket, officials from ICC, Public Authority for Sports, Ambassadors of India, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Pakistan, Diplomats from Malaysian Embassy and a galaxy of personalities.
"This is a dream come true for the Cricket lovers in Kuwait," Kuwait Cricket president Mr Haider Farman said while welcoming the audience. "One day we will host the world cup in Kuwait," he said.
There wouldn’t be a better venue than this to unveil the trophy in Kuwait than this, said Mr Imran Khawaja. "After so many years, the Kuwait cricket has recently witnessed a lot of changes and made its presence felt in the International cricket arena both on and off the fields. Hopefully in the future, Kuwait will not only host the world cup, but may also participate in it,” Mr Khawaja said while inaugurating the trophy unveiling session.
Thanking the participants, KCC Director General Mr Sajid Ashraf said that this monumental moment will be etched in the history books forever for our beloved country Kuwait. The invitees and the national team did a photo session with the World Cup trophy after unveiling the trophy.
The trophy will be put on display at Sulaibiya cricket ground on Friday evening for public view. World Cup mania is already building up in the country and this event is being awaited with tremendous excitement.
The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Trophy will travel to 18 countries around the world, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, the United States of America and the host country India.
