The Ministry of Interior officials continued their intensive field campaigns to arrest violators of the residency law who did not benefit from the deadline to amend their status or leave the country, which ended on June 30. The Public Security and Residency sectors and the Special Security Forces carried out security campaigns targeting the Al-Qurain, Hawally and Mahboula markets, which resulted in the arrest of 149 violators, wanted persons and absentees. Security inspection campaign also conducted at Hawalli, Farwaniya, Al-Mutlaa and Al-Dajeej, which resulted in the arrest of 114 violators.
Legal measures will be taken against anyone who is sheltering the violator, including those who pays for the violator’s travel ticket, sources mentioned.
Authorities called on everyone to cooperate with the security agencies and report any law violators to the authority.
Meanwhile, the continued inspection resulted in a shortage of labourers in the country. As per sources, many of the establishments faced shortage of workers as most workers opting to stay home out of fear of being caught by the security authorities during a crackdown on the illegal residents.
Areas such as Mutla’a, Shuwaikh, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Khaitan and Farwaniya witnessed a near-absence of technicians, while workers (daily wage workers) who typically gather at roundabouts and street corners were entirely absent.
