Ramadan is the holy month for the Muslims every year in the world. It is in the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. During, this time people spent their hours sitting in the Masjid (Mosque) reciting Quran. The most important part in Ramadan is fasting as the Muslims fast until the sunset. Fasting not only teaches to remain without eating or drinking, but shows how much faith is there in a person for Allah. There are several rules which the people have to follow while fasting. First, they are not allowed to eat or drink during daytime. Second, smoking and drinking are restricted during the time of Ramadan. At evening after praying fast is broken with a meal called Iftar. And they go out visiting their families and friends after fast. It is very common in Ramadan most of the Muslims spend their time in Masjid (Mosque) reciting their Quran and do a special prayer called Taraweeh prayer which is twice than the normal prayer. On the 27th day of Ramadan all the Muslims, together celebrate Laylat Al Qadr. According to Muslims, Muhammad was the first one to receive Quran on the Earth from the Heaven. The Old, Children or Sickly people are not obliged to do the fast. During Ramadan, no Muslims hold a party. Ramadan is also a time of joy and peace. Muslims pray five day at a time. But it falls on a different day as Muslims follow lunar calendar. Many Muslims also gives clothes, food and money as charity for the poor or needy people. And, parents also give their children a lot of gifts or money during Ramadan. Children also enjoy the auspicious month of Ramadan. People also prepare many sweets like Qatayef, Kanafeh, Babousa, Halwa, Sheer Korma, kheer and Seviyan and give it to their friends and family. People also have holidays during this month.
