Shortage of material cause delay in issuing Civil IDs

The shortage of materials to produce Civil ID card by the company in charge of import is causing delay in the issuance of Civil IDs.

According to reports, the issuance of ID cards now takes 7 to 10 days while it was earlier accomplished within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, local media quoting PACI denied rumors, which said the system was hacked, affirming there’s no interruption of service and that the system is working normal aside from delay in the issuance of civil IDs.

Due to shortage of CID cards, all travels plans shattered. For emergency card issue, catch Bengali in PACI. It is better to pay some bakshish rather than cancellation of tickets and shattering travel plans.

@Aditya

You can meet the PACI Civil ID Manager in the morning session only, he is NOT available in the afternoon session.

You can just walk in to his office along with the documents mentioned earlier. His office is in the extreme left hand side in the Civil ID Enquiry counters Hall. His designation is displayed in English outside his office, as HEAD OF CIVIL ID ISSUANCE etc. Otherwise ask one of the Bangla tea boys and they can guide you.

@Expat
In fact the guy doesn''t really see the documents. But you may carry copies of the flight ticket, old Civil ID, 5kd payment proof for new Civil ID. He will not take these documents, but will return them back to you.

Also carry the ORIGINAL Civil IDs of the card holder and the sponsor, as he will ask them for fast tracking.

Who are in urgent need to travel and their Civil IDs are not ready yet, can go to the Manager in PACI Head Office, with their flight details copy and request him to fast track the card issuance. He will do it through his computer himself (at times depends on his mood as well and may not entertain your request).

I did the above for my daughter yesterday and received her civil ID in 4 hours time.
