On the 11th of September, 2012, FAIPS-DPS celebrated its seventeenth Founder’s Day with an assembly organised by the students of class XI. This was followed by the felicitation of the Class X CBSE examination toppers for the year 2011-12. For seventeen years, from 1995 to 2012, FAIPS-DPS has been igniting and encouraging young minds to pursue their dreams and today, this institution has succeeded in carving a niche as one of the premier Indian schools in Kuwait. Since its inception, FAIPS has come a long way, starting out with a mere 41 students then, to well over 3400 today. Its teaching staff too has grown from 18 teachers to over 200. The versatile and talented students and the pro-active teachers of this school have excelled in each and every sphere – right from academics, to sports, music, art and dance. Our school has even made its mark in national sports events, MUN debates and Spelling Bee competitions, to name a few.

The current batch of class XI put up a wonderful assembly on the day to commemorate and cherish 17 years of the school’s success. The Chief Guests for the occasion were Mr. Mohd. Al Shuaibi, FAIPS Patron and CEO of Al Rayan Holding Company, Mr. Prem Kumar, Corporate Financial Advisor and Mr. Hemant Aggarwal, Chief Financial Officer of Al Rayan Holding Company. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp against the backdrop of a sublime recital of a prayer song by the nightingales of DPS. This was followed by a speech by the Principal, Ms. Anju Dheman, who welcomed the guests and the audience comprising parents of the award winners and the students of class XII.

The school orchestra performed next on the very popular number – Lambada – set to the Calypso rhythm. The audience witnessed a brilliant fusion of guitars, keyboards, violins and drums. Next was a classical dance performance, portraying three Indian dance forms – Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Kuchipudi, which was a stunning display of devotion to the Almighty.

The highlight of the programme was a skit which revolved around a man who had lost his memory as a result of an accident. His friends and family try to revive those memories by reminding him of the best and happiest moments of his life – his schooldays. The delightful and heart-warming skit presented by the talented actors of Class XI was very well received by the audience and the chief guests. A video presentation, showcasing the school’s glorious journey through these seventeen years was presented next. It was indeed a very proud moment for all those associated with the school - parents, students and teachers alike.

The programme culminated with the Scholar Badge Ceremony, where the students of Class XI were awarded Scholar badges, ties and certificates for their exceptional performance in the Class X examinations, 2011-12. A total of 81 students of which a record 41 secured a perfect 10 on 10 GPA, were felicitated by the Principal and the Chief Guests. The Grade 12 subject toppers of the batch of 2012 and their teachers were also felicitated for their brilliant performance in the CBSE Board Examinations. To cap it all, the school management presented special awards to the following students for their commendable achievement in the sphere of academics – Ashray Jain, Kuwait topper in Science stream with 98%, Stuti Jain, Kuwait topper in Commerce (with Maths) stream with 96.4%, Dennis Joshy, a student of the current Class XII batch, for attaining a perfect score of 2400 on 2400 in the SAT II Examination and Aheli Gupta of Class VIII, for her amazing performance in the iKen Scientifica 2012. Special awards were given to the pioneer staff for their long standing association with the school.

The programme was a great success. The Chief Guest, Mr. Shuaibi, in his speech, congratulated the school for its success in the 12th Board Examinations for the third time in a row. With this, the programme came to an end. It was a very memorable day for everyone. All in all, the Class XI students had put up a spectacular show .
Despite its high achievements, DPS recognises that there is no room for complacency and continues in its quest for achieving perfection. It is truly an honour for every student of FAIPS-DPS, such as myself, to be part of this wonderful institution. Here’s looking forward to another year of success and happiness.
