IIT and IIM Alumnis formed new organisation in Kuwait

IIT-IIM Alumni Association in Kuwait hosted its inaugural event on 12th November at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kuwait. The event was attended by around 130 members of the IIT-IIM alumni fraternity in Kuwait along with their families. The association is the first such organization in Kuwait of the IIT-IIM alumni, several of them holding prominent positions across various corporations in Kuwait. The Patron of The IIT-IIM Alumni Association in Kuwait, The Honorable Ambassador of India in Kuwait, Mr. Satish Mehta, and his wife Mrs. Mehta, graced the event as the Chief Guests.
Describing the vision of the association as - “Make a difference to the Indian business and professional community in Kuwait”, Mr. Peeyush Jain, President of the association and an alumnus of IIT Bombay, shared the thinking and motivation that led to the creation of the association. The Honorable Ambassador of India Mr. Mehta, who has been instrumental in founding the association, said, “IITs and IIMs are the two best brands that India has to offer to the world and it is no secret that these institutes have played a pivotal role in the country’s economic and financial growth”.
The association shall not only strive to create a strong network of the alumni of these institutes and business leaders in Kuwait, but also identify opportunities to promote Indian businesses in Kuwait and the Middle East region. Mr. Mehta further added that the association provides a much needed platform to represent Indian professional talent in the region. Reiterating his commitment to the association, Mr. Mehta promised to stay connected with Kuwait even after his term as the Ambassador of India in Kuwait ends this month. Mr. Mehta’s successor, the new ambassador of India in Kuwait, also happens to be an IIT alumnus. The event also hosted a farewell dinner for Mr. Mehta
