Sunday, Oct 2 is the 1st of Muharam

The Astronomy and Space Department of the Kuwait Science Club announced that Sunday, Oct 2 is the 1st of Muharam 1437 which signifies beginning of the new Hijri Year.

In a press release, Director of Astronomy and Space Bader Hamoud Al-Omairah said the conjunction of birth of Muharam moon will occur on Saturday, October 1st at exactly 3:11am Kuwaiti time. The moon will remain for 25 minutes after sunset and sighting it will be difficult. He declared that the moon can be sighted with naked eyes if the conjunction happens before sunset on that day while the moon is 7 arc degrees high from the horizon after sunset and as such, the month of Dhu Al-Hijjah will be 29 days.
