“A leader is the one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” This statement in my opinion, holds true for one of the most committed and dedicated individuals I know of. A personality who is determined and never gives up no matter what. A person who has gone through way more obstacles than we could even imagine and has guided mankind towards its latest developments in science and technology. This kind hearted, keen and mesmerizing personality is non-other than the famous Stephen Hawking.

Stephen Hawking a widely known cosmologist, is certainly a person to remember. Hawking was deeply drawn towards physics and mathematics and took great interest in these subjects. In addition to this, he loved to think out of the box and was always curious about how things worked. The only remedy to feed his raging curiosity was only through his continuous investigation and proper and absolute examination of the subject of his doubt. Moreover, when Hawking was just a teen he built a working computer out of old and rusted parts of clocks and other devices. In addition to this, he never let anyone or anything from achieving his goals in life. This is truly the reason why he was able to alter the world in a way that nobody ever could.

Life was going on quite well for Hawking until tragedy struck. When Hawking was just 21 he was diagnosed with a motor neuron disease that was said to paralyze him. Frankly speaking, I don’t know how anyone would move forward towards being a great asset for mankind still instilled with that sense of dedication and commitment towards one’s society after going through such a horror. Moreover, he was told that this degenerative disease would gradually kill him within a few years. Nevertheless, Hawking was able to tackle obstacles along his path to success relentlessly and never gave up. He didn’t lose hope and was able to turn stumbling rocks into stepping stones of success. In addition to this, I believe that his strive for hard work and his continuous efforts to accomplish the impossible will surely go down in history. Of course, that’s not all.

Stephen Hawking has truly been a great inspiration and has had an ever-lasting influence on thousands of people worldwide. One of these thousands of people he has had a virtuous impact on, is me. Stephen Hawking has taught me to believe in the impossible and never look back no matter what. Moreover, he has taught me that life is full of obstacles and complications and these difficulties can be perceived in two ways. A boon or a bane. If we perceive something that happens to us as a boon and consider it as a mere blessing in disguise, then only can we move further towards our life long destination i.e. success. But if we consider the obstacles we go through as a nuisance, we will never advance to be successful in life. Everything happens for a reason. In addition to this, Hawking has also stirred my enthusiasm into being a more curious person and serving our society to the best of my capacity. He has taught me to be a better human being and never stop until I reach the zenith of my goals.

What accurately inspired me is Stephen Hawking’s final words which I believe is truly influential. In one of his lines he stated that he was never really in it for the money, the fame and the medals that he achieved for his astonishing discoveries. Everything he did was because he liked to do it and not for any egoïstic reasons. Another line that he said which really caught my eye was, “Look up at the stars and never look down at your feet.” This honest and pure-hearted person will never be forgotten as I believe that he has made a deep and ever-lasting impression not only in our understanding of the universe but also in the hearts of people.

Finally, I would like to say that Stephen Hawking is one of the many personalities who have transformed this world into a better and more advanced place and have contributed greatly to their society not only in the field of science and technology but also in the strive to come up with extraordinary conclusions and observations. These people have really served humanity as remarkable leaders. As I very truly believe, “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”
