Indian cuisines are famous all over the world for its rich taste, aroma and healthy ingredients. The recently opened Dakshin Bharat in Fahaheel offers an array of Indian delicacies that satisfies the taste buds of food connoisseurs. From Idli, Vada, Dosas to papri chaat to Bamboo Biriyani and variety of Tea and coffees including filter coffee, list of delicacies is endless for one to relish.

The restaurant is located in the 2nd Floor of Yaal Mall & Tower at Fahaheel Al Dabbous Street opposite to Al Kout Mall. When you reach the restaurant you are warmly greeted by the staff at the entrance. They have both inside and outside dining area. The interior of the restaurant is simple but elegant and gives you a nice cozy atmosphere feeling. White brick walls, Golden Mirror Ball chandeliers, Golden mirror wall dividers for the cabins creates a unique atmosphere for one to enjoy the delicacies in this restaurant.

We chose to sit in the cabin. We were in for a surprise to see that the traditional paper menu was replaced with digital tabs menu. We were offered a handheld tablet to check out the food they offered and place our orders. These tablets give us the opportunity to see photographs of all the dishes and a small description with the price, this will give you a clear idea about what you are ordering. Kids were more exited to order looking into the tablet.

We were served with their complementary drink - a cocktail with small apple pieces on top. We started our delectable culinary journey with Soups and Starters. In soups we ordered Sweet Corn Chicken Soup and Mushroom Soup. Both the soups were very special. It was different. In the Sweet Corn Chicken Soup, the corns were crushed and the soup was creamy and thick, even the mushroom was rich and creamy. We just loved the soups. For starters we ordered Papri Chaat, DBH Special Puri Chaat and Chicken Cheese Fingers. Starters were so delicious. The chaats were Crunchy and tangy and reminded us of the way we relish the street foods in India. We also ordered salads, Greek salad and DBH Special Salad.

The staff guided us with their specialties for the main course and we ordered Bamboo Prawns Biryani, Bamboo Chicken Biryani, Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, Laala Mas, Vegetable Kadai, Vegetable Kurma and some Butter Naans. They have variety of Dosas. We were informed that Dosas are available throughout the day. We thought of trying it out. We were served with 2 feet long Paper roast, a wafer-thin crispy dosa with Tomato, Coconut and Mint Chutneys along with sambar. Bamboo Biryani - The Biryani was served from one-foot-long bamboo log. The cooked biryani was put in the log and served. Kids were excited to see the way they were serving the biryani from the Bamboo log. They even have Kids meal. There are 3 varieties of Kids meal. The meal consists of Chicken Cheese Fingers, Green Salad, Fries, Butter Chicken, Rice (Steamed / Fried Rice / Biryani) and Juice. The main Course was good, delicious and quite exotic! The kid’s meal is something different than the typical fast food type of kid’s meal we usually experience in this country.

They have a very good selection for vegetarians. Variety of unique vegetarian items you can find in their menu with exciting taste.

Lava Cake, Crepe and Falooda was a great conclusion to our connoisseur delight. Lava Cake is a chocolate lover's dream come true. This is served with vanilla ice cream on a plate. Lava Cake when cut chocolate just flows through the middle.

All the cuisines were presented in a stylish fashion and had unique flavour. We got to explore new flavours of Indian Cuisine.

Dakshin Bharat Restaurant has a seating capacity of 60 to 70 Diners. 20 Diners outside and 20 Diners inside. They have 4 Cabins with a seating capacity of 26 Diners. The Restaurant is open from 10:30 am – 11 pm on all days. They provide Takeaways too. No need to worry about getting parking place as there is plenty of parking place in the Yaal Mall.

If you are planning to take your special guest or your loved ones for an Indian culinary experience, this is the right place with the right ambiance. We also found out that the menu is reasonably priced and suits everyone’s budget. No doubt that it is a great place to hang out with friends and family and enjoy a delicious meal.
