Police patrols asked not to chase suspects

Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Public Security and Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior issued a decision ordering police patrols and securitymen not to chase escaping suspects but only note down the license plate numbers, except in cases where required and that too after obtaining approval from the Operations Department of the Public Security
Sector, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to daily, this is in the interests of the safety of the lives of security personnel, Kuwaitis and residents. This is also to prevent damage to police vehicles following recent events, daily added.
