ASSP Kuwait Chapter organized Technical meet on “Behaviors and Business Strategy & HSE Role in Total Productive Maintenance”

American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) - Kuwait Chapter is a premier voluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety and Environmental organization, which strives to provide professional guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and social sectors in the region.

As per the annual plan, ASSP-Kuwait Chapter organized its 2nd Technical meet for the term 2019-2020 on two topics, Title1. Behaviors and Business Strategy. Title 2. HSE Role in Total Productive Maintenance." Session was conducted at ASSP-Kuwait Chapter’s Meeting Hall, Souk Sabah, Fahaheel on 22nd August 2019.

The Technical Meet started off with the opening remarks by Mr. Mazharuddin Shaikh, Chapter Secretary, he briefed about the importance of technical meets. Mr. Sunil N Sadanandan, President of ASSP Kuwait welcomed the participants and appreciated their participation in the technical meet. Mr. Jahid Thakor, briefed about the recent chapter activities and welcomed the participants, Mr. Mustak Mirza, Head of HSE Events Committee introduced the speakers for the day Mr. Gary Fraser & Mr. Santhosh Kumar Shenoy.

Mr. Gary Fraser presented the topic “Behaviors and Business Strategy”. Mr. Mr. Gary Fraser is currently working as a HSEQ Manager Kuwait (Wood) Kuwait Oil Company PMC since 2015. Prior to this, he has worked as Vice President HSSE, Asset Integrity and Risk with BG-Group for 12 years. Country Head of HSES and Risk Technip, Thailand. Has held senior management positions in Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Tanzania, Egypt and India.

Mr. Gary Fraser briefly explained about the Behaviours Based Safety and how the Major incidents are led when tolerating small things, he further elaborate how one critical moment where that mistake/ incident can cost individual life. Given Explanation for previously occured process related incidents (e.g. Piper Alpha, BP Texas City, Buncefield UK, Deepwater Horizon)

Mr. Santhosh Kumar Shenoy presented the topic “HSE Role in Total Productive Maintenance”. Mr. Shenoy is accomplished QA/H&SE Professional of over 25 years of experience in a wide spectrum of industries. A motivating team leader who is very good at training, presentation, workshop facilitation and documentation. Result oriented with high energy and positive attitude with a personable nature. With a good knowledge of International Codes & Standards of QA/H&S, Shenoy has served in various capacities as Auditor, Consultant, Trainer & QA Manager and is well conversant with the Quality Management and Health & Safety culture of Middle East based clients & consultants.

Mr. Shenoy presented about the HSE role in Total Productive Maintenance, during his presentation he Explained about the Eight (8) Pillars of Total Productive Maintenance (Exaple: 5S, Housekeeping, Autonomus Maintenance, Focus on small improvement efforts, Planned Maintenance, Quality Maintenance, Trainings, Office TPM, HSE Management etc…). Question and answers session was conducted and the gifts were distributed to the correctly answered members.

Mr. Venkata Ramana (Chapter Executive) explained the benefits & online resources of ASSP.

There were more than 80 ASSP Members attended the meet and enhance their knowledge; The presentation was followed by Question and Answer session.

The Session was very much interactive, and members clarified their queries with the speakers. The Technical Meet concluded with the thanks note by Vice President of ASSP Kuwait Chapter Mr. Jahid Thakor and he thanked the speakers for their time and efforts in delivering the presentation towards the benefits of the ASSP Members. He also thanked the HSE Events committee for organizing the event.
