IndiGo to stop Kuwait flight from Kannur

Saturday, September 21, 2019

IndiGo Airlines, which is operating direct flights from the Kannur international airport (KIAL) to Kuwait, has decided to stop their service from October.

The low-cost service, launched in March 2019, had hugely benefited passengers from north Malabar. KIAL insiders consider the move a setback to the airport, which is trying to rope in more airlines to operate to the Middle East and South Asian countries.

Indian media, quoting a senior manager of IndiGo, attributed the decision was taken as part of a regular change in schedule and considering the low passenger traffic from Kuwait.

From Kannur airport, only connecting flights would be available for Indigo passengers from next month.

Meanwhile, GoAir had launched direct service form Kannur international Airport to Kuwait last Thursday. GoAir flight G8 61 will leave Kannur at 7:00 am and will reach Kuwait at 9:30 am. The return flight G8 62 will leave Kuwait at 10:30 am and will reach Kannur at 6:00 pm.
