Average of 10 work related injuries per day in Kuwait

The authorities receive at least 10 complaints of work injuries in a day, Deputy Director General of the Planning and Administrative Development Sector at the Public Authority for Manpower Iman Al-Ansari said during an inspection campaign at Shuwaikh industrial area to check the violations and irregularities in facilities like workshops and factories.

Some of these cases lead to death or amputation of body parts, due to the failure of most of the workshops and factories to adhere to the preventive requirements, she said.

Al-Ansari said that the employer or sponsor is obligated to treat the injured worker, as there is comprehensive insurance that the worker must be insured through at the beginning of his recruitment.

She explained that the authority’s plan includes applying health requirements to shops, activities, workshops and factories from a technical point of view to ensure the safety of all visitors to those places.
