Indian Embassy in Kuwait today launched Indian Sports Network (ISN) – a digital networking platform for the Indian sports lovers in Kuwait.

“Sports is in the blood of Indians, whether they are in India or abroad,” Ambassador Sri Sibi George said while inaugurating ISN at the Embassy auditorium here today.
“We have many stories of Indian athletes, sportswomen and men here in Kuwait. I urge them to come forward and share their stories with us,” Ambassador Sibi George, a Pole Vault athlete by himself, said during the launch. His wife Smt Joyce Sibi, a basketball player, also attended the event.

“Your stories are inspiration to the young generation; it can be our contribution to Fit India and Khelo India and to keep ourselves fit through regular fitness exercises or our traditional yoga which is very important particularly in this complex world of competition, to address the challenges of stress, strain and even immunity issues posed by Covid 19. It also helps us to develop team spirit and build mutually beneficial partnerships,” Ambassador said.

Ambassador also highlighted many achievements and accomplishments of India in the field of sports during his speech.

A Digital photo exhibition on sports, which beautifully showcased the great achievements of Indians in the field of sports, were also held during the event.

Ambassador also highlighted the growth of sports industry in India. Today, India’s sporting goods are popular around the world and have made a mark in the global sports goods market. The domestic industry exports nearly 60% of its total output. Ambassador urged the business community to promote Indian sports industry in Kuwait.

During the launch, Ambassador revealed “Ambassador’s Cup ever rolling trophies” for Cricket and Badminton. The trophy for badminton was handed over to the representatives of IBAK and the trophy for Cricket was handed over to Smt Mamta Kalra, who had to her credit playing cricket against New Zealand and West Indies.

He urged all sports enthusiasts to join these tournaments once they start depending on the evolving Covid 19 pandemic situation.
