Embassy celebrated Harvest Festivals of India

Embassy of India, Kuwait, organized an event on April 13, 2021 to celebrate various harvest festivals in India, including Vishu, Puthandu, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Bihu, Baisakhi, Vaisakhadi, heralding the New Year in many States of India.

Delivering the inaugural remarks, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, His Excellency Shri Sibi George extended his warm greetings to the Indian Community and friends of India in Kuwait on the joyous occasion.



Terming the day as auspicious, Ambassador spoke about India’s rich diversity and highlighted the unity amidst this diversity, which signifies the true beauty of Indian Culture. Ambassador also mentioned about the beautiful confluence of events as the occasion also coincided with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.





"Today we celebrate Gudhi Padwa in Maharashtra, Ugadhi in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Puthandu in Tamil Nadu and Vishu in Kerala. In the eastern part of India, we celebrate Bihu in Assam and in the north, we celebrate Baisakhi in Punjab. Celebration of a spring harvest and new beginnings of the New Year is the essence of all these festivals, which differ in name and somewhat in form but together in their diversity, signify the underlying unity and beauty of Indian culture," Ambassador said.





During the event, Ambassador felicitated the winners of Sastra Pratibha Contest 2021-22, conducted by Science International Forum, Kuwait.

Audience quiz was also conducted during the course of the event, and prizes were distributed to the winners.

A short cultural programme showcasing India’s diverse festival traditions was also organized. The cultural programme included short audio video clips, live mesmerizing song and dance performances. The event was well attended virtually by people from different walks of life in Kuwait.
