As you are aware, you do lot of things in a day without even knowing yourselves. For example breathing, blinking our eyes etc. It would be very hard for you to do them with your control. But do you ever give your body parts a short amount of movements ?, as a reward for it’s work to contribute with all your other body parts - the answer is probably No. I am not sure how many people have the habit of doing regular exercises or even yoga every day.

I learnt yoga during lockdown period. My day to day exercises are simple and are not much difficult, two days in a week I used to do exercises like Dhanurasana and Scorpion twist which are much complicated .The rest of other days in a week, I used to do exercises like inchworm ,quad stretches, butterfly stretches, Tadasana etc., which are simple.

I used to do these exercises routinely in early morning hours, generally these exercises gave me results in which I could see drastic developments in my balance and flexibility in my body .Tadasana helped me to strengthen my leg muscles, Pranayama exercises are good exercises to be done because their outcomes helps everyone to tackle any kind of breathing difficulties like asthma and lung diseases. The easy exercises that can be done by kids are eye exercises, surya namaskaram, tree pose, mountain pose etc.

Now let’s see a brief description of some of the simple exercises that can be done easily by children every day.

Eye exercises –These exercises are beneficial for your eyes as most of the time childrens are spending on online classes using electronic gadgets for hours which can be harmful for our eyes. It should be done by moving your eyeballs to right and left up to 8 times then close your eyes to rest then the second exercise is to rotate your eyeballs clock wise and anti-clock wise five times slowly. Then you can move your eyeballs to top and bottom and moving it in a cross way. This just takes few minutes and can be done anywhere.

Surya Namaskaram – Surya namaskaram also known as ‘’ The ultimate Asana’ ’strengthens your back and muscles. It also increases blood circulation in your body. There are 12 steps in this Surya Namaskaram exercise.

Tree pose- tree pose is also called ‘’vrikshasana ‘’ that helps to improve alertness, concentration and strengthens the legs .
Doing physical exercises indicates that you are taking care of your body. You can do exercises anywhere when you feel comfortable. For example even at your work when you are tired or your back starts aching. Doing yoga or exercises during the morning gives you better energy for the rest of the day. There are of course some hard exercises which can’t be done at the beginning but you can start doing simple and common easy exercises at the beginning.

‘’Human evolution led to five basic movements, which encompass nearly all of our everyday motions." Meaning your workout needs just five exercises, one from each of these categories: push (pressing away from you), pull (tugging toward you), hip-hinge (bending from the middle), squat (flexing at the knee), and plank. Running, walking and cycling is extremely important for children. But during this pandemic time, we are unable to move out quite often than usual.

All of us are now glued towards television, phones and laptops etc. Children are less able to play outdoors. But thank God, we have enough of space in our homes to do yoga and exercise every day. Rather if you are not interested, then it’s time to start a dance party! Dancing can also be a better exercise. So dance on your own way. Apart from reducing weight and giving some movement to our bodies, it also makes you feel relaxed.

Benefits of exercising

Having a positive mind throughout the day and feeling much energetic. Makes us feel more comfortable, confident and less lazy.

Yoga or exercise is a better treat for your body and for its great help.

In yoga, breathing exercise called ‘pranayama’, is easy and very effective to do and so meditation helps you to relax your mind and helps you to stay focused and have more concentration in your studies.

I hope this small article might have helped you to know some benefits and the importance of physical and mental exercises.

Thank you.
