No fund collection drive; Embassy urge community members to verify any contributions to Covid relief

No fund collection drive has either been initiated or authorized by the Embassy of India in Kuwait regarding the ongoing efforts to deal with the evolving COVID-19 situation in India, Embassy of India informed in a statement. Embassy informed that the supplies of Covid-19 related equipment to be offered have to be routed through Indian Red Cross Society, which will receive it on behalf of Government of India. "There are reports of numerous initiatives by diaspora and friends of India abroad to send emergency assistance during this time. All contributions are advised to be done only after due verification", Embassy informed. The Embassy, in a statement, welcomes the efforts of the friendly State of Kuwait for dispatching emergency medical supplies to India as part of the assistance being offered by the friendly State of Kuwait and expresses its sincere gratitude to the leadership of the State of Kuwait for its support.

Embassy also informed that a dedicated national fund with the primary objective of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide relief to the affected, ‘Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund)’ is currently in existence. PM-CARES Fund is aimed at strengthening
