Kuwait Caller ID project is in testing phase

The Caller Identification project entered the testing stage and the actual application will take place soon, local Arabic daily AlAnbaa reported quoting sources.

Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) initiated the project to identify callers from government agencies and well-known commercial and financial institutions in the wake of large number of spam callers impersonating as government agencies and financial institutions.

Kuwaiti telecommunications companies and a number of entities and institutions appearing on individuals’ telephones will also be identified by their names, not just their numbers, as part of this project.

Actual testing phase for the project began and it is expected to be completed this month, sources reported.
