Maurya Kala Parisar organized 10th Ethnic Food Festival

The 10th version of Maurya Kala Parisar Ethnic Food festival took place on 26-Apr-2024 at Indian School of Excellence Salmiya. The event was a big success with active participation of 74 contestants showcasing their 103 dishes in categories such as Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian, Dessert, category exclusive for Bihar and Jharkhand cuisines named Ethnic Food and Kids On-Spot preparation.

This year one of the main attraction of the event was young master chef’s competition in the category of On-Spot preparation. Audience appreciated this program whole heartily. Cultural programs presented by young kids stole heart of many audiences. MKP member Mrs Wageesha Jha, a SaReGaMa Mumbai Round contestant enthralled the audiences with her singing of Bollywood melodies.

All the participants of kid’s On-Spot preparation category were honored with consolation prize.
Total 15 prizes were given in 5 categories as follows.

Vegetarian: 1st Prize - Niddhi Gupta for Pani Puri, 2nd Prize - Abhilasha for Rasgulla Makhmali, 3rd Prize - Varsha Desai for Khamam
Non-Vegetarian: 1st Prize - Kainat for Chicken Mumtaz & Butter Naan, 2nd Prize - Rohina for Nawabi Dastarkhwan, 3rd Prize - Shahzaib for Teriyaki Fried
Dessert: 1st Prize – Kartik for Lakhnavi Shahi Tukda, 2nd Prize – Varsha Desai for Pede, 3rd Prize – Nidhi Gupta for Mango Rabdi
Ethnic: 1st Prize – Priti Nitin for Litti Chokha, 2nd Prize – Supriya Sigh for Thekua, 3rd Prize – Sujeet Kumar for Bihari Malpua
Kids On-Spot preparation: 1st Prize – Yashita Loya for Bread Chat with Aam Panna, 2nd Prize – Tanishi Verma for Sattu Sharbat, 3rd Prize – Shayan for Fruit & Nut Falooda

All participants were also honored with participation medal. A large crowd gathered to savor the event and encouraged the participants.

Judge panels for each category were headed by professional chefs and experts from prestigious Indian Restaurants in Kuwait and food enthusiasts from the region being the other three members. The judges were Mrs Nisha Bhansali, Mrs Chhaya Thakkar, Mr Shankara Bhalla, Mr Sheih Sakil Ahmed, Mr Binu Joseph, Mrs Sujata Kashyap, Mr Binod Kumar, Mr Shafique Ahmed.

Al-Mulla Exchange & Jagdish Chewda Mart sponsored the event. MKP President Mr. Nitin Prabhakar thanked them for supporting the event. Al-Mulla Exchange had offered the special promotion for this event. Chief Guest Mr. Praveen Singh Director Financial Services, Al-Mulla group visited the festival and gave away the prizes.

Litti Chokha, Chura Ghughni, Malpua, etc. were available at MKP stall for the audience to relish. Couple of other stalls was also offering ethnic-wear, artificial jewelry and many other food items. Western India famous brand Jagdish Chewda Mart was offering multiple snacks item at their stall at very reasonable prices.

Organizing Team for the event included Mr. Mithilesh Kumar, Mrs Bushra Afroz, Mrs Priyanka, Mrs Supriya Singh, Mrs Anamika Raj, Mrs Shobha Verma, Mrs Nivedita Sinha, Mrs Ekta Kumari, Mr Rupendra Prasad, Mr Sumit Tekriwal, Mr Sanjeev Kumar, Mr Shafique Ahmed, Mr Vivek Kumar, Mr Maroof Iqbal, Mr Sumant Mishra, Mr Mahtab and Mr Syed Shabih.


Maurya Kala Parisar registered with Indian Embassy in Kuwait, is a cultural and social association of people in Kuwait from the Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand. It is dedicated to promote art, culture and heritage of the region through events and activities of interest to Indian Community in Kuwait.
