Strict action against fake social media accounts

Security authorities intensified the monitoring of fake social media accounts, which deliberately spread lies about the political, economic and social conditions in the country or insult officials, personalities, social figures and even hurt foreign relations of the country.

This comes within the context of reviews being conducted. It was observed that some of them deliberately spread rumours and lies that affect the security and stability of the country or harm Kuwait’s foreign relations.

Owners of these accounts will be confronted firmly and strictly, and that directives have been issued to conduct investigations and collect information about the suspicious account owners, arrest them and prosecute them in accordance with the Penal Code and Law No. 63/2015 regarding information technology crimes and others.
